Sustainable economic growth will be a key concern for those considering their
supply chain strategy this year, an expert has claimed.
Cindy Miller, managing director for the UK, Ireland and Nordics at UPS, has told IFW that this will be the centre of attention in the short, medium and long term.
She highlighted the importance of global commerce to this goal as a rise in trade and economic growth are inevitable companions.
"If exporting companies are able to easily access new markets, they will thrive at home and create new jobs. And logistics is the glue that binds world markets together," she explained.
Ms Miller emphasised the key role that UPS has played in international trade and explained that at any one time two per cent of global GDP passes through their transport systems.
Earlier this month, IFW announced the inaugural Logistics Day to celebrate the role that supply chain strategy plays in the world economy and to raise the industry's profile among young people.
