Businesses, including those in warehouse design and logistics outsourcing, could cut their costs through implementing environmentally-friendly practices.
There are many practical advantages to making operations more efficient, according to Business Link, a support service for UK companies.
Paul Elliot, business support advisor at the organisation, explained that there is some hesitancy among firms as a result of the economic downturn when it comes to making green changes.
However, cost reductions are just one of the ways in which they could benefit.
"It is common sense to adopt green policies because in a lot of cases they help cut back on waste and allow you to make better use of resources and utilities," he commented.
In this way, enterprises become more resource-efficient, he added, going on to say that the difficulties once associated with environmental policies, such as cost and regulations, no longer pose a problem.
The SME-nvironment survey conducted by NetRegs.gov.uk revealed that uptake of water and energy efficiency measures in small and medium-sized enterprises has doubled in two years.
