Space and warehouse management may help companies make cost savings in the recession.
That is according to Howard Cooke, a director in the corporate consulting team at GVA Grimley, who has suggested that outsourcing may help businesses save on property expenses.
Speaking at the GVA Grimely/CBI seminar in Leeds, Mr Cooke said that "maximising the value" of space was pivotal to cost saving.
Asking questions such as "what's the cost of the use of that space? Am I doing what I should be doing with that space and maximising the value? Am I paying what I should be paying?" will lead to a better understanding of costs, he suggested.
According to the Investment Property Databank report earlier this month, UK commercial property capital values fell by 8.7 per cent in the first quarter of the year.
However, the fall does appear to be slowing, as the decline stood at 14.3 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2008.
