Transport planning bosses seeking ways to improve cost reduction and efficiency during the downturn might consider booking a place on one of several industry seminars.
According to the Freight Transport Association, its first Transport Manager 2009 sessions - held in Maidstone, Cwmbran and Warrington - received glowing feedback from attendees.
The seminars focused on a range of challenges and opportunities facing the industry, including how the role of transport planning manager has changed in recent years and offering tips on how to cut costs.
With eight sessions still left to run at various locations around the UK, the organisation is urging bosses to sign up now to ensure they do not miss out.
General manager of information Simon Chapman said: "The recession has squeezed margins ever tighter, so transport managers' time is at a premium."
He added that the seminars will ensure bosses are kept abreast of ongoing developments in the industry to enable them to plan effectively and efficiently for the future.
The organisation this week welcomed plans by the government to scrap the southbound toll at the Dartford/Thurrock Crossing in Kent, which it said would help cut both costs and delivery times for fleet operators.
