The Stobart Group (SG) which specialises in long distance haulage revealed that it is not concerned about the possibility of a recession in the UK.
Speaking to the Guardian, the chief executive of the firm, Andrew Tinkler, revealed that demand for haulage was still strong, despite rising fuel costs.
"Our business last week was the busiest week in the history of Eddie Stobart. I haven't seen any signs [of a UK recession] and neither have our customers," he explained.
SG has also introduced a new charging system that has helped firms such as Tesco and Coca-Cola to run their haulage chains more efficiently.
Customers are only charged for the time each lorry is used, rather than the number of lorries booked for the job.
The firm has reported pre-tax profits of £3.5 million in the last year, it was only formed in August through a merger between Eddie Stobart and Westbury Property Fund.
