A number of construction companies could benefit from cost reductions by altering their supply chain strategy, it has been claimed.
Currently, wastage is occurring as firms view each part of the supply chain in isolation rather than seeing the whole thing as one system, Daylight Supply Chain Services argue.
Speaking to Materials Handling World magazine, managing director of the firm Tony Hardy said that keeping control of every aspect of the supply chain is important in order to reap full benefits.
Mr Hardy told the news provider that many people intuitively believe that the best way to control costs along the supply chain is to keep each individual cost to a minimum.
"In reality the most effective way of keeping costs down is by enabling improved coordination, control and supplier relationships," he said.
Individuals working in the supply chain sector have been invited by the MIT Centre for Transportation & Logistics to take part in a survey to assess supply chain risk management.
