Transport planning chiefs may want to take advantage of a bright spot in the truck industry's year.
According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), registration figures are expected to be better this September than in previous months.
Manager of commercial vehicle affairs Robin Dickeson also pointed out that the end of the Euro 5 reduced pollution incentive is approaching and it might be an opportune time for operators to benefit.
He said it is a "one-off" chance to add £5,000 to the value of a heavy truck over its ten-year life.
"An operator only needs to register a qualifying truck before the deadline to cash-in - he doesn't need to use the truck at once," Mr Dickeson explained.
However, the industry is anticipating "bleaker" registration statistics for the rest of 2009, before the potential for a slow recovery, SMMT said.
Its comments follow recent changes that everyone in the sector may have an opinion on an increase in fuel duty.
