Transport planning bosses can play a "massively important role" in helping businesses to maintain a competitive edge during the downturn, it has been claimed.
According to the Freight Transport Association (FTA), transport managers are shouldered with important and vast-ranging responsibilities that are crucial to the success of a company.
The group is currently holding its Transport Manager 2009 seminar roadshow, which runs until early December and offers essential advice and information to businesses.
Each session provides details of the latest legal developments and tips for cost reduction, as well as guidance on planning ahead to beat the tough market conditions.
Simon Chapman, general manager of information at the FTA, said many transport planners continue to see the roadshow as "the must attend event of the year".
"The continuing success of Transport Manager underlines the importance placed by our members on compliance and best practice, even in tough times such as these," he added.
The Transport Manager 2009 roadshow first got under way last month, with the first three seminars in Maidstone, Cwmbran and Warrington receiving positive feedback from those in attendance.
