Farmers could benefit from supply chain changes, says NFU

Farmers in England's northern regions can make themselves more competitive through adapting their supply chains, it has been reported by the National Farmer's Union (NFU).

Speaking at the NFU's Northern Dairy conference Hayley Campbell-Gibbons, NFU chief dairy advisor, said: "Demand continues to grow domestically and abroad and there is growing consumer demand for British products.

"We need a dedicated supply chain for liquid milk and more accountability and transparency and need to have farmers operating closer to the market and consumer."

The comments highlight the importance of supply chain management and will serve as a reminder to many that supply chain management can always be adapted in order to improve the results of a business.

Small companies hoping to improve their own supply chain management may wish to contract a supply chain management company in order to benefit from a third-party perspective.

Supply chain management companies have the ability to offer both years of experience and the contacts to ensure a business saves money through adapting their existing supply chains.
