Florida company Tech Data is holding steady despite the economic downturn but inventory management could be the source of a cost cutting initiative, its CEO Bob Dutkowsky has said.
Mr Dutkowsky was speaking to a supply chain conference in the US, a crn.com report suggests, when he explained that in order to ensure Tech Data remains as agile as possible during the next few months it would look at its pricing structure and inventory management.
"We've made significant investments in our sales infrastructure to get at the SMB space," he was quoted in the crm.com report as saying.
"We will drive responsible growth, and by that I mean we will look to grow revenue and market share and profitability through our disciplined pricing and inventory management system. Those things have served us well in this environment."
Organising a supply chain to maximise efficiency and cut costs is essential during an economic downturn, and hiring a third-party supply chain management company to assess areas of improvement could be invaluable to a business.
