Nestle accomplishes Mid East integration

Thursday, 19/2/2009 11:47
Global food manufacturer Nestle has recently announced a streamlining process of its supply chain in the Middle East.

The task Nestle Middle East (NME) set out to complete was to ensure that its five logistics service providers across Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Dubai were all brought under one system, a operation which could lead to increased efficiency and reduced costs.

Integrating multiple logistics providers can create a great deal of simplicity in a supply chain, and offers greater visibility of the supply chain as a whole, which could lead to fewer mistakes and greater savings being made.

Given that the UK is in a serious recession it is likely that many companies will be keen to reduce their overall expenditure.

Contracting a third-party supply chain management company, however, can lead to long-term savings which can carry on until past the current recession, offering a greater chance of recovery once the recession eases off.

Roberto Mennilli, supply chain director at NME said that using a third-party supply chain management company has offered the company a great deal of fresh vision, and that Nestle is impressed with the results of the integration project.
