West Midlands event to promote green supply chains

An upcoming event in the West Midlands will explore how organisations can boost their supply chain strategy by 'going green'.

Set to be held on September 15th at the Confederation of British Metalforming's head office in West Bromwich, the event will aim to provide 25 firms with information about how to improve their competitiveness through process efficiency reducing their energy usage.

Experts from Jaguar Land Rover and Brockhouse Group will be among the speakers talking in detail about what they look for in a green supplier and how they have improved their own operations through the measures.

Rachel Eade from Manufacturing Advisory Service – West Midlands, which is organising the event, told Engineering Capacity: "The supply chain has a great opportunity to embrace the green agenda, but it has to act now if it is going to make the most of it."

It comes after logistics firm DHL revealed it is aiming to enhance its supply chain and reduce emissions through the use of a new 18-tonne hybrid distribution truck, which is believed to be the first of its kind in the world.
