Deutsche Post DHL supply chain revenues rise

Global courier Deutsche Post DHL has revealed that its supply chain strategy division performed well during the second quarter of 2010.

In its latest trading update, the organisation, which operates logistics and supply chain services across the UK, revealed that revenues reached ?3.4 billion (£2.81 billion) over the three-month period.

While the figure was down slightly from the statistic recorded in the first quarter, it represented an increase of 10.7 per cent in comparison to the same period 12 months ago.

The rise was attributed to new business wins and an increase in volume among contracts with existing clients.

Discussing the firm's overall performance, Deutsche Post DHL chief executive Frank Appel said: "We are now reaping the fruits of our successfully implemented strategic initiatives and efficiency-enhancing measures as well as the portfolio restructuring that we have largely completed."

DHL's supply chain operations were renamed in 2009 as part of a drive to create consistent branding across the firm.
