Established names such as Apple, Dell and Nokia are performing well throughout the global supply chain, a new study has found.
AMR Research compiled the Supply Chain Top 25 for 2009 and discovered that IT firms are doing particularly well.
Retailers such as Tesco and Wal-Mart also achieved strong ratings in the index, which were based on factors such as inventory turns and return on assets.
Commenting on the figures, AMR said: "It should come as little surprise that our 2009 list comprises companies of deeply established reputations and long histories."
The organisation attributed this partly to the global economic downturn, as it has led to investors shunning potentially risky bits and opting for more secure alternatives.
AMR added that only three new names have entered the top 25 this year, reflecting the move towards more established firms.
This comes after Supply Chain Analysis reported that large firms such as Tesco are looking to trim costs by making their supply chain more efficient, such as by using double-deck trailers.
