Scotland's food and drink supply chain is to set to benefit from a significant investment, announced yesterday (Sunday May 23rd) by the country's government.
Total funding of £300,000 aims to strengthen "Scotland's food and drink revolution," with money to be spent on a marketing branding development programme and on supporting food and drink events.
But it is the supply chain that will see the bulk of the funding, with work to be undertaken to connect food processors and manufacturers with retailers, and catering establishments.
Richard Lochhead, rural affairs secretary confirmed the investment from Scotland Food & Drink (SF&D), and said: "Scotland's thriving food and drink sector is one of our key economic strengths and genuine success stories."
SF&D has set new industry growth targets of £12.5 billion, a £2.5 billion increase on its previous target.
The government body aims to grow the value of Scotland's food and drink sector to maintain its competitive edge in the global market.
