Supply chain technologies 'to grow 7%'

AMR Research yesterday (November 20th) released a study suggesting that the supply chain management technology industry will grow seven per cent annually for the next five years.

The suggestions come despite the current financial crisis which has sent confidence to a low, and it may be that the economic gloom contributes to the success of the industry.

"The supply chain, and the technologies that support it, will play an important role in helping companies deal and thrive in an economy that is going to be quite unlike anything we've seen in the post-war era," explained John Fontanella, vice president of research at AMR Research.

As the economy slows, companies will look to their supply chains to cut costs and improve efficiency, meaning an investment in supply chain technology is likely to occur in the coming years.

Companies who wish to improve their own supply chain's efficiency should look to a third-party supply chain management company, which can inform a business on a range of technologies and provide a greater deal of experience and confidence in reforming a supply chain.
