A motoring group in the UK has warned that Britons may not like logistics firms using so-called mega-trucks in their supply chains.
According to the Guardian, the European Commission is rumoured to be considering encouraging haulage companies in Britain to use the vehicles, as they could reduce congestion on the roads and pollution levels.
However, a spokesperson for the AA has stated that many drivers in Britain already feel intimidated by large lorries.
"They will not be welcome on UK roads," said Paul Watters, head of roads policy at the motoring group.
"One problem is they may obscure signs."
However, the Road Haulage Association has rejected these concerns, arguing that longer and heavier vehicles are "part of the future".
A spokeswoman added that mega-trucks are already being used in some parts of Europe.
This comes after Deloitte recommended that companies that wish to emerge from the recession in a strong position closely monitor their supply chain strategy to see where the weakest links may be, reports Logistics Manager.
