Broken supply chain links 'serious threat' to companies

Friday, 08/8/2008 11:33
Broken links in a supply chain is one of the top three most serious threats to business operations, a survey has revealed this year.

Security for a business' supply chain however can be complex, as with globalisation comes the ability to source goods from multiple continents, exposing the chain to a multitude of risks.

However, one US company has detailed a strong plan of action to take against security threats, as it outlines some of the benefits offered to supply chain customers.

"Information sharing and analysis…investigative intelligence, covert monitoring and recovery", are mentioned as some of the key weapons in the fight against supply chain vulnerability.

Recently, LG outlined its own attempts at reducing exposure to risk by streamlining the supply chain process, allowing goods to move from materials to product in fewer steps, and in a shorter time.

To take on such improvements to any supply chain, a business may favour outsourcing its supply chain management in order an experienced and well-connected supply chain management company, who can handle such changes with confidence.
