FTA to celebrate logistics sector's success

Logistics chiefs are being invited to celebrate the industry's continued success by attending the Freight Transport Association's (FTA) inaugural annual dinner.

The Logistics Showcase will be held at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham on Tuesday April 13th, hosted by journalist and broadcaster John Sergeant.

Highlighting the positive effects of the logistics industry on food, consumer goods and local communities, the event is set to become a highlight in the transport calendar.

Jo Tanner of the FTA said the evening will provide a reward for the "no-nonsense and seamless" way logistics firms go about their daily work to keep the country running.

She added that as well as being "a massive employer in its own right", the industry is also vital to the business of every other sector in the country.

"Having endured the worst recession in living history, we now deserve to start feeling good about ourselves again and, in so doing, put logistics centre stage," Ms Tanner said.

Next month, the FTA will host its Urban Logistics Conference in London, giving hauliers, businesses and policymakers the chance to discuss the latest issues affecting urban freight deliveries.
