Market research firm Markets and Research, together with MIT's Center for Transportation & Logistics, has produced a report entitled "Guide to the Carbon Efficient Supply Chain".
The issue of carbon efficiency is both one which can be used as a powerful marketing tool and a way to cut costs, as the price of natural gas and oil rises.
Areas covered in the 100-page report include key topics to help business leaders create a greener supply chain, but the report alone will not be sufficient without serious experience to help implement the information included in the report.
"One of the most important areas in which companies can demonstrate attention to climate change and energy use is the supply chain," said a Markets and Research statement.
"Supply chains span every stage of a product's life cycle from the sourcing of raw materials and components to delivery to end-users and the disposal of end-of-life items."
As such, hiring a third-party supply chain management company could benefit any business, as an experienced supply chain management firm can bring a wealth of knowledge and a fresh perspective to an organisation to create the best possible results.
