Transport planning chiefs seeking to add to their fleets might consider following the example of one specialist timber haulage company.
Les Hughes and Son, which is based in Newtown, Wales, has taken delivery of a new 6x4 Renault Lander rigid drawbar combination as it looks to rejuvenate its fleet.
The company is soon to receive another vehicle of the same model, which will replace its current fleet of Fodens.
Director of Les Hughes and Son Tony Hughes said the firm had been looking at the Renault Premium Lander for some time before deciding on the model.
"It's a good, honest, hardworking vehicle," he commented. "We have been very pleased with the Renault Lander's performance to date, which is why we are strongly considering placing an order for more vehicles as we continue our replacement programme."
According to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, commercial vehicle production has recovered sharply following its recent slump.
Output across the board rose by 74.2 per cent in February as manufacturers ramped up production to help meet steadily increasing demand.
