Companies which handle abnormal roads on the UK could be able to save time with a new online resource from the Highways Agency (HA).
The organisation has launched a website entitled Electronic Service Delivery for Abnormal Loads (ESDAL), which is deigned to help hauliers improve processes and notify the relevant authorities quickly and easily.
Project manager Fidelma Byrne said this would significantly improve the planning, management and notification of any abnormal loads being moved as part of a supply chain strategy.
Indeed, she described the website as a "one-stop shop" for haulage companies.
"EDSAL reduces administrative burdens and modernises the procedures for managing abnormal loads," Ms Byrne commented.
The HA said the system has so far been welcomed by haulage companies, as some have commended its ease of use and time-saving benefits.
This could also help hauliers, many of which have been struggling with issues such as rising fuel prices, to save money, as they can save administration costs and easily identify the route they need to take.
