IIT announces supply chain qualification

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) has announced that it will now provide students the chance to gain a Certificate Programme in Supply Chain Management.

The addition of the certificate highlights the importance of supply chain management across the globe and the international nature of many of the UK's supply chains today.

A statement from the IIT said that "the programme is meant for the students and young working professionals who intend to make their career in the areas of Retail Management, International Trade, Export, Import, Logistics, ERP, and advanced IT implementations and other areas".

Supply chains, whether global or more local, are becoming increasingly important to businesses across the UK as the financial downturn forces companies to look harder and more carefully at their business models.

Supply chain management companies can help cut costs in most organisations by restructuring a supply chain in order to reduce exposure to fluctuating oil costs or by drawing production closer to a business.
