M&S prepares for £400m supply chain spend

High street retailer Marks and Spencer has announced that it is investing hundreds of millions of pounds in revamping its supply chain in an attempt to increase flexibility, its director of IT has said.

Reassessing its logistics, the company has announced that it is investing in advanced business data, aimed at providing a more accurate means of assessing costs and efficiency.

Marks & Spencer director of IT and logistics, Darrell Stein, said: "In order to provide the very best customer service, we need to be flexible and agile to their changing needs."

The current recession in the UK offers businesses the chance to expand their market share while many competitors will be downsizing.
