An online service has been relaunched that aims to help those looking at supply chain cost reduction and transport planning.
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has given the Automotive Supplier Finder (ASF) portal a makeover and explained that it hopes the changes will provide a more useful service for the sector.
With information detailing over 8,000 firms and around 3,000 different products and services, the site could help those looking to improve their logistics processes in terms of cost or practicality.
Paul Everitt, SMMT chief executive, said: "ASF is a valuable business support tool for companies in the automotive industry, providing a cost-free, efficient and reliable method of matching buyers with suppliers of UK-built products."
Those making use of the facility can issue requests for company quotes, as well as send details to firms they would like to work with.
A new feature named MIDedit aims to make this particular process easier with up-to-date, relevant business data.
The SMMT recently held its second monthly online conference looking at developments in the commercial vehicle industry.
