Supply chain chiefs offered new regulations guide

Keeping on top of alterations made to the UK's customs and security regulations can be a time-consuming business, but the Freight Transport Association (FTA) has published a guide to the latest changes aimed at supply chain managers.

Aimed at logistics buyers, supply chain managers and all others involved with trading procedures the FTA's guide, named The Customs and Security Environment for UK International Traders, is designed to offer a compact and straightforward explanation of the key changes.

"The guide will explain how the customs and security system works and how policy is made," said Christopher Snelling, FTA's head of global supply chain policy.

"Supply chain managers will gain a deeper understanding of how international organisations set standards and how these standards will affect them on a practical level."

Supply chain efficiencies are increasingly important at present and the recession means that any lost time or revenue will hurt an organisation more than normal.

Contracting a third-party supply chain management team to streamline a supply chain could be a viable way of freeing up management hours while also increasing efficiency throughout an organisation.
