In news that may be of interest to transport planning professionals, Meatloaf's Bat Out of Hell has been voted the number one driving song.

A survey of drivers conducted for GM UK Fleet has highlighted the nation's favourite tunes to listen to on the road.

While Meatloaf took the top spot, Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody came in second, followed by I Drove All Night by Roy Orbison.

Other artists who made it into the hearts of UK motorists are Motorhead, Abba, Bruce Springstein and Chris Rea.

However, drivers' least-loved songs were also recorded, with Agadoo by Black Lace topping the list. The UK's most hated driving songs also included the Birdie Song by the Tweets and Survivor's Eye of the Tiger.

Celine Dion, Aqua, the Cheeky Girls and Mr Blobby also featured in the worst songs to drive to category.

Top Gear has collated a list of the greatest ever behind the wheel records, which include Steppenwolf's Born to Be Wild, Sweet Home Alabama by Lynard Skynard and Blur's Song Two.
