Transport planning to lose out in business closure

Thursday, 20/8/2009 01:37
Anglesey Aluminium recently rejected a government bail-out deal that would have seen £48 million offered to the firm to maintain production.

Some 400 people are expected to lose their jobs, including those involved in transport planning.

Haulier LE Jones transports the metal from the plant to various destinations across the UK.

David Hughes, operations manager at the firm, claimed the business will lose 15 loads a day when the aluminium producer goes under, Road Transport reports.

The decision by Anglesey Aluminium and its parent companies will leave a massive hole in the island and regional economies and the UK's aluminium production.

In other transport planning and haulage news, Liam Reid, who formerly owned Reid Transport that went bankrupt two years ago, is now reported to be investing in Chambers Coaches.
