Volvo Trucks has introduced a new function to its online transport information system aimed at making life easier for UK lorry drivers and transport planning bosses.
The Dynafleet Online technology will now feature a Tacograph Download option, which allows information from the digital tacograph to be transferred to the office via the internet.
Workers insert their regular drivers' cards into the digital tacograph, with operators able to decide how often they want the data to be transmitted back the headquarters.
The transport company will require a card reader and code to access the information, preventing the risk of unauthorised access.
Pascal Claes, product manager of Dynafleet at Volvo Trucks, said the system provides access to up-to-date information about driver times and movements, contributing to a more cost-effective operation.
"All information is continuously saved and stored ... on the transport company's private space on the Dynafleet server," he explained.
"This reduces the need for administration and makes it easier to meet legislative requirements."
Volvo Trucks recently announced the launch of a new low-entry version of its FE middleweight rigid model, designed to improve ease of access for the waste collection, recycling and fire service sectors in particular.
