A Milton Keynes-based company is reaping the benefits of improved cost reduction and greater efficiency after adding a new Volvo truck to its fleet.

Ace Plant, a specialist hire equipment company, has added a Volvo FM-440 8x2 truck to its range as it seeks to cope with increased demand for its services.

The company, which operates nationwide, brought forward its truck replacement programme after outgrowing the capability of the vehicles in its existing fleet.

Seeking greater versatility and maximum capacity, the firm opted for the new Volvo truck and has already begun to reap the benefits of its new investment.

Managing director Frank Cundell said: "The Volvo truck … helps us logistically, in that we can plan and schedule our operations more efficiently and the cost-effectiveness is already reflected in our bottom line."

However, he added that the main bonus is that the new truck's much-improved fuel efficiency and adaptability has significantly reduced the firm's carbon footprint.
