House builders in the US are facing another potentially damaging change to their business at the start of 2009, it has been suggested, as the US moves towards energy independence.
The cost of materials used for house building has already risen sharply throughout the past year, hitting builders in the UK hard as well.
But the cost of wood has now become a new threat to those in the US, according to a Building Products report, as the government pushes for more energy independence, which could result in wood being burnt for electricity.
Such a move could increase the cost of building supplies dramatically, forcing many building companies to drastically reassess their business sheets.
A supply chain management company could provide a company with some security against the threat of fluctuating costs of commodities, however.
By hiring a supply chain management company a business can make the most of the expertise of that company to create not only an efficient but a responsive supply chain which can withstand changes in the value of many goods and services, to offer a business the chance to make more accurate projections.
