Online retails giant Amazon is set to open two new mega sheds in Germany as part of its expansion on the continent.

More than one million sq ft of space will be utilised in the building of distribution points at Koblenz and Pforzheim.

Goodman will handle the development of the sites and completion is expected before the end of next year.

“We are delighted to announce the development of two new logistics centres. In January we will commence recruitment of employees in Koblenz and Pforzheim, which we are very happy about,” said Armin Cossmann, regional director responsible for the German Amazon fulfilment centres.

The new warehouses will match existing logistics hubs which Amazon has in Rheinberg and Graben.

The move comes just weeks after the online retailed unveiled plans to build an eigth warehouse in the UK.

Work has known begun on a new 41,800 m2 distribution centre in Hemel Hempstead and it is scheduled to be fully operational in 2012.
