The many aspects of business which have changed in the past 18 months have led to supply chains forming a much more central part of most organisations.
The environment, the recession and the wildly fluctuating cost of oil have all combined to ensure that supply chain managers are now, or should be, more critical to their company's organisation than at any time in the past.
As such, the Smart 2009 Conference, in Sydney, is set to tackle such issues this year, with a focus primarily on offshoring and the future of transportation fuels.
Set for June 10th and 11th, the conference will discuss "innovative methods for improving supply chain processes, systems and structures based on time, trust and transparency", to offer companies the best opportunity to learn ways in which they can reorganise their own supply chains.
Companies in the UK which will not be attending the conference may instead wish to make amendments to their own supply chains with the assistance of a supply chain management company.
A third-party supply chain management company could offer critical insight into a company's current structure and could reduce a company's outgoings or add value to a product by ensuring a business reduces its emissions level through adaptations to its supply chain.
